Mei Yen was born and raised in Penang. With a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, Canada, she balances her 8-to-5 career while nurturing her creative side. Initially captivated by acrylics and avian themes, Mei Yen has since developed a distinctive style, skillfully blending impressionism, surrealism, romanticism, and abstract expression with vibrant finesse. As a member of the Penang Art Society and Malaysian Female Artists Society, Mei Yen has been sharing her work in exhibitions since 2005 and earned a consolation prize in the 2022 Setia Karya “Hotel Art Campaign.” 

When she’s not working or painting, you might spot Mei Yen comically chasing pickleball victories, battling gravity at the Pilates studio, jotting down thoughtful reflections, or roaming Penang’s streets with her camera, capturing moments that fuel her creative fire.
